CarMax Branding
Major initiatives:
1. Elevate the look of illustrative elements and find creative solutions for company wide use.
2. Find a solution to set up visual hierarchies.
CarMax is the first retailer to develop the concept of a used car superstore. Before they began offering their expansive services, there was no site that offered people the choice of viewing a huge inventory of vehicles in one convenient web location.
This project was to find creative solutions to elevate the look of graphics and visuals on the site and make sure that the new visual elements will align with brand voice and strategy.
Combination of elements: To find clear visual hierarchies on the web pages, illustrative elements are on the background and serve the purpose of storytelling (supporting character) and photographic elements (main character) empathize the story.
Illustrations
Depth: Layers of different tone of colors are added to the illustrative elements. It creates depth and the subtle color transition makes the photographic element a main focal point.
Rebranding 2.0
Team collaboration: I worked closely with product teams on branding and gave art directions to the illustrator to refresh brand identity / find clear visual hierarchies on the web pages
